Story
Lynas Engineers are very proud of where we come from and since our inception in 2016 we have prioritised fostering meaningful connections across the region and are committed to making a difference in the communities in which we operate, because of this we take great pride in being Gold members of the MFC Foundation.
The mission of the MFC Foundation is to raise aspirations and improve the life chances of communities across Teesside and this year we are taking part in their biggest fundraising initiative of the year Roary's Big Week.
Mental health is an issue that affects many people: latest estimates state that 1 in 6 adults experienced a ‘common mental disorder’ such as depression or anxiety. Suicide remains the leading cause of death for men under 50 in the UK and with 89% of the UK engineering workforce being male, this is a topic we take extremely seriously. Male workers in construction and engineering are 3.7 times more likely to take their own lives than the national average. Long hours, physical strain, job insecurity, and high-pressure deadlines can take a toll on workers, leaving many struggling in silence.
The theme of the initiative for 2025 is 'Challenge' to highlight the daily physical, mental and financial challenges faced by people every day across our region. So with all of this in mind we have decided as a team that not only are we are going to Challenge ourselves physically but we are going to come together, get outside and get moving to raise money for the incredible work the Foundation do.
On Saturday the 29th March, Middlesbrough Football Club play Oxford United at home at the Riverside. Oxford's Kassam stadium is 472 miles away from Middlesbrough so we will be collectively working together to either walk/run/cycle or swim that full distance over the week with the aim of raising £1 per mile.
The funds raised through this challenge will go directly to helping the Middlesbrough FC Foundation continue their incredible work, which not only supports youth development and community initiatives but also helps provide mental health resources to people who need them the most. Your support can help change lives. Whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this page, every little bit counts. Please join us in raising awareness for mental health in the construction and supporting MFC Foundation who's work makes a huge impact in our community.
