Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit the JustGiving page for Lynda Gocher’s Memorial Dance. Lynda passed away on 30th October 2023 after a long battle with breast cancer. She was well-known in the UK dance community for Lynda’s List, which, in the days before social media, provided a comprehensive run-down of every lesson, freestyle and other events for modern jive, ceroc, swing, lindy and more.
On what would have been her 80th birthday on 23rd March 2024, a group of her friends from the dance world have organised a Memorial Dance at Windsor Leisure Centre. The organisers and DJs are donating their time to this event, which will be a fantastic celebration of Lynda’s dancing life. It is a unique chance for all those who knew her personally, danced with her at some time or just knew her through Lynda’s List to pay their respects and have a great night. All proceeds from this event will be divided between two Breast Cancer charities that were very close to Lynda’s heart. The BRCA gene impacts many families, and Eve’s Appeal is the leading UK charity carrying out life-saving research and support in this field. The Prince Philip Hospital Breast Cancer Unit in Llanelli is where Lynda received much of her treatment and care.
For those who cannot attend and also for non-dancing family or friends who would like to see for themselves how much Lynda meant to the dance community, we have also set up this JustGiving page for further donations.
