Story
It’s true what they say, turning 30 means you start running! From being complete beginners and not running at all, to making Saturday morning park runs the new normal routine, we (Victoria, Katie, Charlotte, Emma and Lyndsay) have set ourselves a new challenge and signed up for the Belfast Marathon 2025 Team Relay. We have decided to raise money for a local charity, Caring Breaks and appreciate any donations you can give!
Caring Breaks is a local charity that provides regular short respite breaks for family carers of adults with a learning disability. Caring breaks currently provides short breaks for 200 family carers. These periods of respite for family carers can often be the only relief they get from their caring responsibilities.
While family carers get time for themselves, Caring Breaks support their sons and daughters or siblings – our clients – providing not just fun and social events, but also widening their understanding of the world around them and helping them take their rightful place in society. On top of the normal service, Caring Breaks also provide extended periods of respite in the form of weekend breaks.
Caring Breaks is a lifeline for the family carers of adults with a learning disability, by providing a service which they tell us is a crucial element in making it possible for them to continue. The family carers are able to feel at ease when their relative is out with Caring Breaks as they know they are not only being fully supported, but they are also having a fun time with friends. The staff at Caring Breaks go above and beyond to ensure the clients are supported according to their individual needs.
Recognising that family carers have the right to a good quality of life, and to have their own health, social and emotional needs met is at the heart of what we do.
If you are able to donate anything you can afford it would really make a difference to so many people.
Please remember to add gift aid it’s free to add 😊
