Story

Hello,

It’s hard to put into words just how heartbroken and lost our family feels after losing our beautiful Danielle, my little sister, far too soon. We have had to dig deep every day, to find strength, hope, faith and joy in our lives, for her, and for our beautiful babies.

My coping mechanism and therapy has always been running. I don’t find it easy but I find it a great escape to help quiet the mind and heal. This year I have committed and signed up to running quite a few 10Ks in order to help me train for the Glasgow half marathon in September 2024. Something I never thought I’d ever want to do, or be able to do. But, if Danielle taught me anything, it’s that we are stronger than our mind and body may tell us. “Faith not fear” she’d always say.

Raising money was never something I really wanted to do. Too much exposure, too much pressure, too much vulnerability. But with every race and run I complete, I’m thinking of her and I push harder because of her. So, I have now decided, I am not going to shy away. I’m going to step out my comfort zone, continue to let Danielle’s light shine and raise money this year for a very special charity we now hold close to our hearts.

The Brightest Star charity provides a support to broken hearted mummies and daddies, and extended families, who have lost a wee piece of their heart. The Brightest Star charity provides families with a memory box, free of charge, to bereaved parents and families and in doing so, the family has forever prints and moulds of their childrens hands and feet and a lock of their loved one’s hair among other comforts such as teddies, blankets, bracelets etc.

This has been, and will continue to be, such a huge support and comfort to my parents, but mainly to Danielle’s beautiful little boy who misses her terribly.

Please donate what you can, when you can. I will be forever grateful to you for every penny you donate to help this charity continue to help heal the broken hearts of families in distress.

Much love and appreciation,

Lyndsey and Family xxx
