Raising money for the children’s hospital that saved my sons lives

Lyndsey Ireland is raising money for Alder Hey Children's Charity

Story

Alder Hey children’s hospital saved both my son’s lives.

My youngest son Mason had a stroke when he was 9 months old due to a massive bleed on his brain caused by a Cavernoma which caused him to lose the movement of the right side of his body. He needed two brain surgeries when he was 1 years old. One of those brain surgeries was extremely dangerous but the neurosurgeon did a fantastic job and saved his life. He’s now 4 years old and cannot use his right arm because of the stroke damage but Alder Hey are still supporting him with OT and physio to work on getting it back again.

My other son Leo also needed brain surgery last year to remove his Cavernoma as it could have caused hydrocephalus if it was kept in and possibly lost his eyesight. Again the surgery was successful and he was out of hospital within two days.

Hospital is always a scary place to be especially for children but Alder Hey always goes above and beyond to keep children has happy as possible and also a massive support for parents.

We will never be able to thank Alder hey enough for saving our son’s lives but helping raise as much money as we can will be a good start.

Taking part in Olis safari walk is a way the children can get involved in helping raise money for this amazing hospital. Any donations are massively appreciated 😊🫶
