I'm taking part in 4 events to raise funds for Friends of Anchor and for my dad.

In July 2022 my dad was diagnosed and underwent surgery for bowel cancer. Unfortunately in July 2023 the cancer returned and was found to be both very aggressive and very rare. So much so that he qualified to take part in a world wide treatment trial and received fortnightly immunotherapy at the Anchor unit in ARI.

In April 2024 further scans showed the cancer had returned again and that this time no treatment would stop it. My dad was admitted to Roxburghe house, initially for pain management however things developed very quickly and he passed away in Roxburghe on 3rd May 2024

The last 2 years have been nothing short of an emotional roller coaster of the worst kind. This is my way of doing what I can to pay it back.

The Anchor Unit is the central hub of cancer and haematology care for the North-east of Scotland and their aim is to provide the best possible treatment, care and support to patients.

I'd love to help the anchor unit continue to provide the vital and life saving treatment they provided my dad and to everyone else in need of their services. So the events are...

💥 12th May - Garioch 10k run, Inverurie

💥 2nd June - Kiltwalk, 18mile walk from Aberdeen to Banchory

💥 24th August - Ride the North, 100 mile cycle, Arbroath

💥21st September, Banchory Beast Race, 10k obstacle course

Dad had been selected to take part in the Brave catwalk event in May 2024 which sadly he was not able to do. We had decided to combine our fundraising efforts and raise as much as we can for this vital, local unit.
