Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Angela Hawkins (mum) passed away at the beginning of November 2023 after bravely dealing with the debilitating Parkinson’s disease coupled with Louie Body dementia. Despite all that mum had to deal with, especially over the last few years, she always knew who we were, even if she had her eyes shut and kept us amused with her stories of events at the nursing home or what we had been up to.

We are completing the Wheelbase Fred Whitton cycling challenge, raising money for Parkinson’s UK. For every £1 raised, up to £500, will be matched by an anonymous donor. So please help us raise as much as possible for this great cause.

The Wheelbase Fred Whitton cycling challenge consists of a 112 mile sportive around the Lake District, now a World Heritage Site. Starting at Grasmere and taking in climbs of Kirkstone, Honister, Newlands, Whinlatter, Hardknott (allegedly England’s hardest climb being an average gradient of 14% and maximum gradient of 33% …. eye watering!!!) and Blea Tarn passes.

Ady and I will be embarking on some serious training in order to take on this challenge and we haven’t done anything like this before. If you can spare a few pennies to help us reach our target, we would really appreciate it and will help us to continue on our training journey to put us in the best position possible to arrive at Grasmere in the time allowed.

Thank you
