Story
20 years ago I set out on what I thought was going to be a short fundraising journey. I challenged myself to raise £50,000 before my 50th birthday the following year. Little did I know that I was going to be still fundraising and campaigning for our own charity 20 years later. There have been many highs and lows, personal and charity related but we, through our own charity, It's good 2 give, support young cancer patients in a myriad of ways.
We provide short stays at our stunning and award winning Ripple Retreat sitting on the shores of Loch Venachar in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and also much needed mental health support through the four psychologists we fund in central Scotland and providing parent and patient packs and Lottie Dolls and important medical equipment. We recognise the struggles that patients and families face during, and after, cancer treatment.
I know from feedback just how much it means to families to get our support and so to celebrate my 20 years of fundraising I have set out to raise just a wee bit more than the first time - I'm making my target £500,000. It's doable, it's hard and I will call on every bit of support from others I can and with your support, we can continue to deliver on this promise to support young patients across Scotland.
Will you help me? Come to an event (our ball in November 2025 and October 2026, Edinburgh Blingo 2026), take us on as charity of the year at your workplace, organise an event for us, do a bake sale or a plant sale, sell on ebay or gumtree or egg-sells. There are hundreds of ways to raise money that are fun as well as successful. And if you are not able to do any of these maybe you'd like to make a wee donation here!
