Story
We are taking part in our second Macmillan Mighty Hike in July 2025 and would be very grateful for any contribution large or small from our friends and family. Here are our stories:-
Lynn: My mother Kate (Kathleen Taylor) was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in April 2024 and then given the awful news that it was terminal in May 2024. She was a hard working, tough lady who worked her whole life up until her diagnosis and she was determined to fight it. However, Pancreatic Cancer is one of the deadliest forms of cancer and has one of the lowest survival rates in the UK with a 5 year survival rate of 7%. Our mum sadly passed away at the age of 76 with us by her side on 21 August 2024 (3 months after her terminal diagnosis).

Lesley: In October 2023 my dear mother-in-law Margaret Jones passed away from Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma after battling this awful disease so bravely. she is missed every day by the whole family. I sadly lost my mother Marjorie in January 2019 after a battle with cancer so Lynn and I decided that we should take part in our first Macmillan Mighty Hike, with the Lake District Mighty Hike in 2023 raising £2,370 between us for this great cause. Since taking part in this event, I also sadly lost a very good friend, taken far too young, to a brain tumour. We want to keep raising money in memory of the family and friends we have lost.

The family and friends we have lost are missed by us all every day and we want to help support Macmillan in any way we can.
