In 2014 I celebrated my 60th birthday by doing the Skywalk round the 192m (630 ft )high Auckland Skytower. At the same time I raised £1700 for SYEDA (South Yorkshire Eating Disorder Association). At the time both I (as a carer) and my daughter Eleanor (Ellie to all her friends) had both received support from SYEDA as well as both volunteering with the charity in various capacities.

Ten years later in February this year, I celebrated my 70th birthday. I just happen to be going to Canada in early June where there is another tempting tower. The Edgewalk round the CN tower at 356m (1168 ft )😱.

So, on 3rd June, in a mad moment, I have decided to do this walk to raise funds for SYEDA again, despite not being quite as agile as I was!

Eleanor has achieved a great deal in the last ten years, working as a lived experience researcher, lecturing at various universities and lots more too. However her Eating Disorder has never totally gone away and once again SYEDA have been there to help and support her.

SYEDA are a small charity who offer an incredible service to sufferers, family and professionals. Services include, support groups, talking therapies, occupational health , prevention and early intervention and so much more, including training.
