Saint Catherine's Sunrise Walk 2024 · 29 September 2024

Join us to remember loved ones on Sunday September 29th as we take in the beautiful Scarborough sunrise around North and South Bay

Story

My dad Jimmy, passed away peacefully on Monday 19th August 2024 after 6 weeks of being cared for by the wonderful staff at Saint Catherine's Hospice Scarborough, following a short and very unexpected battle with metastatic colon cancer. We had found out he had 2-3 weeks to live just a week prior to him going into the hospice,so it was a massive shock to us all.

The hospice allowed any of our family to visit, and for us to have space to spend every day with dad. We were given counselling support and therapy as well as dad, which really helped us to cope during this very difficult time. Mum and dad's wee dog Bramble was able to be there by his side the whole time, which was a massive comfort to everyone.

Dad would definitely have wanted any donations to go as a tribute to the fantastic care that he recieved from Saint Catherines Hospice Scarborough. It is our hope that we can raise money so that more people can benefit from the same care and support for their loved ones too.

The majority of Saint Catherine's services are provided free of charge, meaning that they rely on fundraising to help them reach the £6.1million a year it costs to care for their patients.

Mum (Elizabeth Hill), wee Bramble, my husband Dave and I are joining Saint Catherine's for their sunrise walk as we remember dad.

We will be gathering on Sunday 29th of September, starting at Sea Life Centre Scarborough and walking along the North and South Bays to Scarborough Spa and back during sunrise, a total of around 10km.

Any donations you can give will be gratefully received and go direct to patient care at Saint Catherine's - thank you.
