The Children's Cancer Research Fund is a volunteer-led charity that provides funding for children’s cancer research to get new ideas off the ground. Without our help many research projects would never get underway, meaning critical breakthroughs in childhood cancer research being left undiscovered.

Story

For those who were privileged enough to witness me running 100m in Year 7, you would have been mistaken to think I was running in slow motion. My staggering lack of pace meant I often prioritised my "lats over laps", and swerved cardio for the weights section at the gym. Well, that changes now. The tortoise beat the hare and I'm hoping to beat The Tatton Park 10k.

In all seriousness, I am running for a great charity: Friends of Rosie. Friends of Rosie's purpose is to support research into childhood cancer treatment and detection.

Sadly, childhood cancer research remains underfunded and treatment can be incredibly harsh, often leaving children with lifelong side effects. This is something Friends of Rosie wants to correct by funding research projects that could make a massive difference in helping treat cancer and improve outcomes for children and young adults.

It's a cause close to my heart, not least because I am a Trustee of Friends of Rosie, but also as I've had the misfortune of having been diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma when I was 8 years old and again when I was 22. Sadly, I've witnessed and lived with the harsh treatments and side effects. I've lived my life such that you wouldn't know (and not listening to my doctors about my limitations) but others aren't so fortunate.

Any donations welcome, as I drag this creaking body around the course.
