I’m raising £2500 in support of JourneyMaa, a project that delivers life-saving healthcare and education to mothers and young girls in some of the most underserved communities in Bangladesh. Your donation will help to provide vital resources to those who need it most.

Currently, 99% of maternal deaths occur in developing countries, with pregnancy being the third leading cause of death for women in Bangladesh. Maa Charity is working to change that. From free pregnancy checks at maternal health clinics to delivering health education to young girls, they are dedicated to reducing maternal mortality and empowering the next generation.

Their mission is simple but powerful: to provide sustainable, accessible healthcare in resource-poor areas. With your help, they can reach more mothers and daughters, ensuring they have access to life-saving care and the knowledge to protect their health.

This is so important to me, it would be a privilege for me to be in a position where I am able to advocate for others, who may struggle advocating for themselves.

The scope of Journey Maa goes far beyond providing healthcare, it fosters a sense of belonging and community - and gives hope and dignity to incredible, bright, endearing women who resemble so much of the women in my own life.

The journey began in 2013 when the founder, Aqil Jaigirdar, witnessed a mother tragically lose her life after a caesarean birth due to a lack of resources. This heartbreaking moment sparked the creation of Maa Charity, and since then, they've been dedicated to revolutionising maternal healthcare. Through their health camps and follow-up care, they provide ongoing support to expectant mothers — helping to prevent complications like pre-eclampsia, a leading cause of death in pregnancy.

I’ll be working alongside local healthcare professionals to provide free health checks, medication, and education on maternal and newborn care. In a country where conversations around menstrual hygiene and pregnancy are still taboo, these services are crucial. By equipping women with this knowledge, we can prevent infections and save lives - this is what I'm passionate about!

One of my most favourite hadiths always comes to mind when I think about Maa, the prophet Muhammad (saw) said “Whoever relieves a Muslim of a burden from the burdens of the world, Allah will relieve him of a burden from the burdens on the Day of Judgement. And whoever helps ease a difficulty in the world, Allah will grant him ease from a difficulty in the world and in the Hereafter. And whoever covers (the faults of) a Muslim, Allah will cover (his faults) for him in the world and the Hereafter. And Allah is engaged in helping the worshipper as long as the worshipper is engaged in helping his brother.”

I would be deeply grateful for any support you can offer, whether through a donation or simply by sharing my page with others. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to me, and every bit of support brings us closer to making a meaningful impact.

Love and duaas!
