Story
On May 4th, Clare and I are taking part in a skydive to support two charities. I am raising money for Thames Hospice and Clare is raising money for Breast Cancer Now.
Thames Hospice ensure that patients and their families are cared for with utmost compassion, dignity and support. Funds raised from this skydive will ensure that they can continue to provide care to those in the local community.
Why did I choose to raise money for Thames Hospice?
In October 2022, our beloved friend Herby was diagnosed with incurable brain tumour (Glioblastoma). The following year had several ups and downs, with his wife Kirsty, family and friends supporting him in every way they could.
Thames Hospice began providing Herby and Kirsty support at home in September 2023 for 33 days. Kirsty was Herby's full-time carer right up until November. Herby then moved into Thames Hospice to receive end of life care.
Every person at the hospice did everything to make his final moments as comfortable as they could. After just 6 days in the hospice, on 29th November, Herby fell asleep.
Thames Hospice are still supporting Kirsty and has been there every step of the way.
The care and support received is priceless, but we would like to try and give back which is why I have decided to take on a skydive to raise important funds for Thames Hospice and in Herby’s memory 💚.
Thank you x
