Story
With my friend Esme we are going to climb 10 hills across Edinburgh to symbolise our constant battle with endometriosis and the fact that we will keep going no matter what!
My name is Maëlle, I am a 23-year old French Osteopath. I started have painful and heavy periods when I was fourteen.
At 18 years old, I started having pain on deep penetration.
I knew something was wrong and I contacted my GP. I then got referred for an ultrasound which was negative, then an MRI scan in my hometown in Brittany which was also « negative ». I had to go to a specialist gynae centre 2 hours away from home to get a diagnosis in 2023.
Stage 1 or 2 endometriosis, take the pill and all will be well. The pill helped to get rid of the period pain but I still suffer to this day with urinary incontinence, painful deep penetrative sex, constipation, bloating and more.
We need more research to give women with endometriosis the symptoms management they deserve. Contraceptive pills and surgery is just not enough!
Follow us on social media @esme.h0pe and @maelleosteopath to follow our journey.
Support our fundraising if you can, even £5 or £10 can make a huge difference !
Thanks,
Maëlle x
