Story

I'm going to be jumping out of a plane to raise money for Younger People with Dementia!

This is a cause very close to my heart. Dementia is considered young onset when it affects people under 65 years of age. It is also referred to as early onset or working age dementia, affecting people from as young as in their 20's, 30's and 40's. Younger People with Dementia support those living with a diagnosis, and their families, reducing social isolation and bringing people together when they need each other most.

Dave's Story

My name is Dave, and I was diagnosed with dementia in 2018 at the age of 61. Receiving that diagnosis changed my life, but finding the right support helped me realise that life could still have meaning, connection, and enjoyment. Through joining YPWD activities and support groups, I have made friends, had fun, and found a renewed sense of purpose. Being part of a supportive community has shown me that I am not facing this journey alone.

Dave, is now in a lovely care home.🏡

But dementia affects more than the person diagnosed. Families, partners, and carers also face emotional, practical, and financial pressures while supporting their loved ones. Carers support groups provide a vital space where people can share experiences, access advice, find emotional support, and connect with others who truly understand the challenges they face.

I am now challenging myself to a tandem skydive from 13,000 feet to help raise vital funds for Younger People with Dementia. By taking on this exciting challenge, I hope to support programmes that provide friendship, activities, specialist support, and carers groups for those affected by younger onset dementia.

Please support me in this incredible fundraising effort. Every donation, no matter the amount, will help make a real difference by creating more opportunities for connection, support, and hope for younger people with dementia and their families.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.

I would be extremely grateful for any donations you can spare 🪂
