Story
Maddy was the type of person you knew was in a room because you could hear that laugh anywhere. Her character was strong, kind, loving and funny which meant she made me laugh a lot and spending so much of my childhood with her is a memory I will forever hold dearly. In September of 2021 my life and lots of others were changed when hearing the horrible news Maddy had passed away in her sleep at just age 17.
The sudden passing of Maddy was something no one could’ve predicted and left a huge hole in the hearts of so many people that she touched. That cheeky personality has been missed substantially since the day she left and for this reason I have chosen to run for the charity CRY – cardiac risk in the young.
Through CRY, people aged 14-35 can receive heart screening to help prevent incidents like Maddy’s happening, every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people (aged 35 and under) die of undiagnosed heart condition. This is a number far too big, the tragic impact of such a shocking thing to happen leaves an untimely impact on friends and family and by raising awareness of the charity, more diagnoses can happen and funding for medical research can help to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac deaths.
Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions.
With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young.
By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions.
