AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run Half Marathon 2025 · 4 May 2025 ·

While your baby has specialist treatment at the John Radcliffe Hospital, we provide vital support to families. We also fund equipment for the unit, invest in training for NHS staff, run Little SSNAPlings and support research projects. We stand by families every step of the way.

Story

SSNAP support sick newborns, their parents and those that care for them; by providing emotional, medical, financial and informational support.

This will be my first ever half marathon and I have chosen to support SSNAP because 18 years ago they helped myself and my family through one of our most difficult times when I was born prematurely at 28 weeks. I now want to show how impactful this charity is by running this half marathon as a way of expressing my appreciation for the life I have been able to live since their support.

Founded in 1982 it has supported the Newborn Care Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital ever since. The unit cares for up to 56 babies at any one time and is a Level 3 Centre, the most sick and premature babies from across the Thames Valley, are looked after here in Oxford.

A donation of any size will be greatly appreciated!
