Story
One year ago, I completed quite a long hike along the Thames Path with some good friends. At the start of that walk, I thought we were nuts and we might not finish it. As it turned out, we managed the full 70km over a 16 hour period and had a great time for most of the way.
Unfortunately, towards the end of that hike, I got some bad news. My wife had received the results of a scan. That scan told us that she had a recurrence of breast cancer that would need a series of treatments short and long term, including chemotherapy.
One year later and she has been through the wringer but is doing really well. She’s dealt with and faced down everything that the treatment has thrown at her, and continues to inspire me and everyone she encounters with her strength, positivity and resilience – but most of all, her happiness and humour!
This weekend, Markus Ehrler and I are attempting 100km, non-stop, along the Thames Path, again raising money for Breast Cancer Now, who have been such a source of support, as well as useful information and guidance.
Please don’t feel obliged to donate, just reading this and considering those going through similar struggles is support enough!
Please see here for more information about the work of Breast Cancer Now.
