We Support those living with MS to be enabled & enjoy their best life

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have MS (Multiple Sclerosis) and have been attending the Centre for around 10 years for oxygen therapy, one of the therapies that is provided.

One of the things it also provides is a sense of community where talking to others with the same condition means that you no longer need to explain the condition or how it affects you "its just MS".

Apparently it affects one person in every 400 directly (more indirectly) in the UK but donations, to local charities fall well below the levels of the "sexy" National charities

Donating through JustGiving is fast, simple and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

The MS Therapy Centre NW is a totally self funded charity receiving no financial support from the NHS, larger National charities or Government other than the Gift Aid, the refund of tax on your donation, so making a donation of £100 into a net £125 for the charity.

I am now a wheelchair user for my mobility needs, so the normal fundraising options of running and walking are out of my scope BUT I am quite good at falling so it seems "natural" to try and use this to help raise funds.

The "fall" at Penrhyn Quarry Zip World lasts on the zip line for around one mile reaching speeds of up to 100MPH (fastest and longest in Europe apparently) and lasts about one minute, powered by nothing but gravity so it is totally "green" activity and reduces our carbon footprint (to boot).

I have "roped" in (volunteered) my family, Megan, Matthew and Brad (son in law) for the experience with me. Shan my wife, wanted to do it but is counting us down at the bottom as "there are only four zip lines at once" you understand?

We will be doing this on the 15th of April and I will add some photos afterwards.

Donations received will help toward the continued running costs for the Centre, helping it to continue the work it does so THANKS to all who donate and those who are accompanying me.
