In memory of Malcolm Weston

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We spent over a week with Dad until he died on Wednesday 7/6/25. It was quite a journey and once Dad was comfortable, it was then full of love and tenderness and we were given space to be together.

On the Friday when we moved to End of Life care, Dad did not look as though he would manage a transition to the hospice so we stayed in AMU-B from Thursday to Wednesday and were in a small side room. Dad was unconscious but for a moment in which he stirred on the Sunday night and told us all, he loved us. He was then progressively peaceful. Once we realised we were staying in AMU, though no one could believe Dad stayed with us so long, we were given access to the Beresford Suite. It meant so much as we did not want to leave him and though we did not spend a lot of time away from Dad knowing there was somewhere we could go that was just for the 3 of us to nap, shower and have a moment of peace was a gift. We went on rotation. It needs a little love and Dad would want to support other families in a similar situation who are unable to make it to the hospice but who are on an end of life journey.

We also want to give anything we raise to be split between also supporting AMU-B. The NHS is amazing but we all know that the comforting extras are being depleted. We were supported with love and kindness by all there and we are sure they have an extras wish list for AMU that core funding no longer supports.

Thank you from Ann, Lisa and Zara. x
