London to Paris bike ride · 24 May 2025

Welcome to Team King's where our amazing supporters are taking part in the British Transplant Games to support the King's Transplant community.

Story

It was just over ten years ago that we received the amazing news about a life-saving operation for our daughter, Mali—a liver transplant. Shortly after, I hopped on a bike and cycled the 400 km from London to Paris to raise money for the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation, who gave us so much support leading up to the transplant.

Now, our amazing daughter is turning 11 this year, and after dusting off my bike, I’ve decided to take on the challenge again. This time, I’ll be cycling for the King’s Transplant Team, joined by several other parents and family members of children with liver transplants.

I’m sure you’ve seen the pictures I proudly post each summer, but the games really do mean so much to our whole family. Not only to Mali, but to her sister as well, who can sometimes feel left out due to the challenges of having a sibling with a transplant. It also means a lot to me and Ceri, who have built an incredible network of friends through the games, friends who have supported us through tough times.

Please consider donating. If you contributed ten years ago, I think you should double it now, for two reasons:

Inflation

At the age of 40, this challenge is a lot harder than it was 10 years ago.

If you can’t donate, at the very least, have a conversation with your loved ones about organ donation. It’s so important. We had to wait seven months for Mali’s transplant, but not everyone is so lucky.

Thanks,

Richard
