Story
This October I will be taking on the challenge of the Cardiff half marathon. This is an event that I’ve always wanted to complete and now that I’m able to, I’m taking this opportunity as a way to give back to a charity that supported me during my own personal recovery.
Eating disorders are so much more than what people think, and so much more than “weight loss”. They are an illness that takes control of individuals, leaving them feeling empty, lifeless and hopeless.
For the past 5 years, I’ve been fighting an eating disorder, and my journey in recovery has been far from smooth. I’ve seen first hand the impact Ed’s have on people’s lives, and the amount of control they take away from someone. Living with an eating disorder has been a constant battle, but everyday have I continue to fight, and will continue everyday until I no longer feel the need to go back to this illness.
With the support of many professionals and the charity BEAT, I am finally able to say the words “recovered”. If it wasn’t for the support and resources from the charity, along with my family and friends I wouldn’t be here today. I am forever grateful for the endless support and love they have given and continue to give me on this journey.
To make this challenge even more special to me, I will be running in memory of a very close friend, Lauren.
All donations will go directly to BEAT, and will go towards suppling resources and support for those who are fighting an eating disorder, as-well as funding for research and prevention measures. If you are able to, I would be very grateful of any donation, that will help to make a difference in the lives of those who are battling an eating disorder ❤️🩹
