Story
As you are all likely aware by now of the devasting earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria on the 06.02.23. Over 30,000 lives have been lost, and many, many more are injured and remain trapped under the rubble. We have all seen the distressing images and videos that have been circulated on social media. The survivors have lost everything, possession, homes, businesses, schools, hospitals, loved ones, the list goes on and on.
This has presented us all with an amazing opportunity - to show our love, compassion, generosity, and solidarity with our fellow human and open our hearts to raise funds to help with the relief effort. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him) is reported to have said:
‘The example of the Believers in their mutual love, mercy and compassion for one another is like one body; if one limb complains then the whole body responds to it in restlessness and fever.’ [Sahih Muslim]
With this in mind me, my husband, and two young boys have decided to row (on a rowing machine) the length of the area worse affected by the quake, which is approximately 130km (80 miles). Our intention is to do this over the half term holiday (20.02.23-26.02.23). We plan to provide regular updates of our progress through Instagram ( @inside_out_interior_designs ). If you could show your support by donating whatever you can, and circulate this, it would be massive help. This will facilitate the work of those on the ground working to rescue and help the victims. This can be our way of helping the relief effort! Our goal is to raise £2000, but if we could exceed this, it would be amazing! Remember charity DOES NOT diminish wealth, it INCREASES it, and if we all do this with a clean and pure intention then Inshallah (god willing) our efforts will have a massive, long lasting impact!
