Story
On 19th April 2026, Eve, Adam and I will be standing on the start line of the Manchester Marathon ready to take on all 26.2 miles.
That’s a lot of road. A lot of blisters. A lot of wondering whose idea this was in the first place.
We’re running every single step in memory of Carl and to raise vital awareness and funds for The Aortic Dissection Charitable Trust.
On 4th July 2021, our world changed forever. Carl suffered a Type A Aortic Dissection a silent, devastating condition that struck without warning. Each year in the UK around 2,000 families lose someone to an aortic dissection a fast-moving and often misunderstood condition that doesn’t get the attention it deserves.
The Aortic Dissection Charitable Trust is the only charity in the UK and Ireland dedicated to bringing together patients, families and medical professionals with one clear purpose: improve diagnosis, increase survival, and reduce the life-changing impact of this condition. Awareness quite literally saves lives.
We’re training hard. We’re running in the rain. We’re logging the miles and I’m pretty sure Carl would be saying ‘what are you doing’ but on 19th April, we’ll give it absolutely everything we have.
Because this is for Carl.
If you’d like to support us, the greatest motivation you can give is a donation helping the charity continue its life saving work and helping us carry Carl’s memory every step of those 26.2 miles.
Thank you for cheering us on, for remembering Carl with us, and for helping raise funds for a very deserving charity.
Holly, Eve and Adam xx 😊
