Story
I've had the amazing good fortune to meet Pauline, the owner and instructor of a local gym, who supports women like me through their cancer journey.
Having completed her own cancer treatment last year while continuing to train, Pauline now runs a weekly class where a group of us come together to collectively “Kick Cancer’s Ass” by rebuilding our strength, both physically and mentally 💪
It's been incredibly inspiring and I feel enormous gratitude to be part of this little community so I would love to take part in this year's “Bench for Boobs 2026” fundraiser organised by Pauline.
We aim to bench press 1 million kg (1,000,000 kg!) doubling last year's target. Last year's challenge raised £25k for the charity Breast Cancer Now and contributed to their research into alternative treatments to chemotherapy and the support, especially in terms of menopause, after treatment 🎯🩷
Strength training becomes increasingly important as we age and is especially valuable after cancer or any other illness.
I'm still in the early stages of healing so at this stage it wouldn't be realistic to set myself a personal bench press target but rest assured I'll be throwing myself into it...full power! 💪💫
I would be incredibly grateful for any donation, however small, to help me reach my target and contribute to this year's challenge 🙏
Hopefully, it will also inspire more of us to include resistance training in our daily routine as we need to keep healthy and strong so we're ready to embrace all of life's crazy adventures yet to come! 👣
