Story
Hi everyone,
I am absolutely thrilled to have been chosen as a contestant in this year's Strictly for Saint Francis Hospice!🧡🪩
I was lucky enough to attend this amazing event last year as a spectator, and I left knowing that I wanted to be part of it one day. So, I took a chance, applied... and here we are!
Saint Francis Hospice is a cause that has always been close to my heart. I live just ten minutes away, and my family has proudly supported the hospice for many years. I have seen first-hand the incredible care and compassion they provide to patients and their families during some of life's most difficult moments.
What many people don't realise is that the hospice needs to raise over £8 million every year to continue providing this vital care, with only 28% of its funding coming from the government. That's why I'm so honoured to be playing a small part in helping raise much-needed funds.😊😊
My love of dancing began at a very young age, with tap dancing being my absolute favourite! I later went on to study Musical Theatre at college, although that was more than 40 years ago now! Learning a completely new dance style will certainly push me out of my comfort zone, both physically and emotionally, but with the support, patience and encouragement of my wonderful dance partner, Nikita, I know it's going to be an unforgettable experience.💃🎶🎶
This challenge is even more meaningful to me because next January I will celebrate 10 years in remission from breast cancer. Being diagnosed at the age of 48 turned our family's world upside down, but today I feel incredibly grateful to be healthy, happy and able to embrace opportunities like this.💖✨✨ Taking part in this event feels like the perfect way to celebrate that milestone while giving something back to a charity that means so much to so many people.
I honestly can't wait to get started with my training!!
The main event takes place at The Brentwood Centre on Friday 23rd October 2026 (tickets are available on their site!)🪩✨✨
But meanwhile I hope you'll be able to help me achieve my own personal fundraising target!!🤞🤞
If you are able to support me, I would be so grateful for any donation, no matter how big or small. Every penny raised will help Saint Francis Hospice continue providing outstanding palliative and end-of-life care for patients and invaluable support for their loved ones.🧡
Finally, I would like to dedicate my participation in this wonderful event to the memory of Claire Harvey and Justin Hardy—both loved, remembered and forever in our hearts.❤️❤️🕊️
Thank you so much for your support.
With love,
Mandy xxxx
