Story
On 24 May 2026, I will be taking part in my first ever half marathon, The Great West Run at Exeter, in aid of Hospiscare, a local charity that provides care and support to terminally ill patients and their families across Devon.
Both in my personal and working life, I have been close to people who have become seriously ill, and sadly I have lost several people very dear to me over the years. These experiences have shown me just how vital the care and support of organisations like Hospiscare truly are.
So, at the age of 58, I have decided to take on the challenge of training for a half marathon to support this wonderful charity, one that brings comfort, peace and reassurance to patients and families when they need it most.
My training routine is very challenging and I have discovered my legs are not as agreeable to the plan as I had hoped they would be! But plod on I will, and if you happen to see me out and about, it would be great if you could give me an encouraging word to help me on my way 😊.
I will post some updates from time to time in case you would like to follow my journey.
I would be incredibly grateful for any donation you are able to give. Every contribution, no matter how small, really does make a difference to people’s lives.
Hospiscare is an amazing charity and every penny I raise for them will make a huge difference.
Thank you so much for your kindness, help and support and for reading my story.
Mandy
** Please note: during the donation process, JustGiving may suggest an optional contribution to support their platform. This is completely your choice, and you’re very welcome to set this to £0 if you prefer.
