Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This initiative is about shining a spotlight on the incredible contributions of women from Commonwealth countries during WWI and WWII. These women weren’t just part of history - they were the backbone of it. From serving as nurses on the frontlines to working in factories and taking up roles in auxiliary forces, their dedication kept the British war effort alive and strong.

One story that absolutely blew me away was about London’s “Ladies’ Bridge” - officially known as Waterloo Bridge. During WWII, when many male workers were off fighting, women stepped in to complete its construction. Picture this: women wielding tools, welding steel, and building one of London’s iconic landmarks, all while juggling the challenges of wartime life. And yet, their incredible work was largely overlooked for decades.

These women’s resilience and strength symbolise so many untold stories of courage and sacrifice. It’s time to change that. Let’s honor their legacy, share their stories, and make sure their contributions are never forgotten.
