Man Vs Mind - Endurance for Mental Health

Oliver Johnston is raising money for M2M Foundation
Millimetres to Mountains aim is to be the catalyst for positive change in people facing challenges in life. Through discovery and adventure we provide a platform for individuals to redefine their own limitations and take steps towards a brighter future.

Story

Man vs Mind is an endurance challenge running across 2026 - 2027, created to raise funds and awareness for Millimetres to Mountains, a charity that helps people turn trauma into growth through adventure, challenge, and long-term support.

Through a marathon, an Ironman 70.3, a full Ironman, and summiting the Matterhorn, I’m pushing myself physically to make a difference for mens mental health and to prove that no one has to face their toughest battles alone.

Why am I raising money?

I’m raising money for Millimetres to Mountains (M2M) because I’ve experienced first-hand how powerful physical challenge can be when life feels overwhelming.

Sport has always been part of my life but over time it became more than competition. It became a way of coping with grief and loss after losing close friends. Training, routine, and challenge gave me structure when my head was noisy, and purpose when things felt directionless.

That’s why M2M resonates so deeply with me. Their work isn’t about quick fixes or empty motivation. They use adventure, community, and long-term mentoring to help people who’ve experienced trauma rebuild confidence, purpose, and belief in themselves, millimetre by millimetre, until they’re ready to reach their own summit.

This challenge, Man vs Mind, is built on the same belief: Our toughest battles aren’t fought on the road, in the water, or on the mountain, they’re fought in the mind.

The Challenge

Across 2026 and 2027 I’ll be taking on:

- A Marathon (26.2 Miles)

- A Half IRONMAN (70.3 Miles)

- A Full IRONMAN (140.6 Miles)

- Summiting 'The Matterhorn' (14,692 Feet)

The reasoning being that challenge, done with purpose, can change lives.

What will your donation achieve?

Our fundraising target is £10,000, and every pound raised will go directly to supporting Millimetres to Mountains’ life-changing programmes.

That money can:

- Fund full programme places for individuals facing trauma or mental health challenges

- Support expedition-style recovery experiences that rebuild confidence and resilience

- Provide ongoing mentorship and aftercare, helping people move into education, employment, or meaningful community roles

- £500 can fund a place on a local adventure programme

- £2,000 can support someone through an entire journey from challenge to long-term recovery

This is a small charity doing deeply impactful work, where every donation genuinely matters. Man vs Mind isn’t about proving toughness. It’s about showing what’s possible when people are supported, challenged, and believed in.

Mental health struggles don’t always look dramatic but they are real, and they are isolating. If this challenge, and this fundraising effort, can help even one person find a way forward, it’s worth every step, stroke, and climb.

Thank you for supporting Man vs Mind and for helping Millimetres to Mountains change lives through adventure.
