Running

At the Maple Tree there are lots of things to do! We have play-based learning activities for under fives and for older sisters and brothers in school holidays. For parents and carers the Maple Tree is a place to meet other families, get involved with hands on learning with their child and sometimes to get help with the tough task of parenting. We have events for the whole family to enjoy together, and courses – like first aid – that are just for adults. We have different sessions running every week day – everyone is welcome.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. Any support you can offer is greatly appreciated.

A few of us (Kate, Frances, Chloe, Andy, Louise and Leigh) will be taking part in a number of individual running challenges, including a first Parkrun (31st Aug), the Henley Trails 10k and half marathon (1st Sept), the Windsor Half (29th Sept) and the Oxford Half (13th Oct).

The Maple Tree offers all kinds of sessions and advice to people going through the early years of parenting; a bit of morale support, a listening ear, the opportunity to meet other parents in similar situations, and a comfortable place to just be open and honest about how you're feeling and how difficult it can be. Whilst at the same time offering the children a fun and interesting place to explore and grow and make friends of their own.

On those days after no sleep, having somewhere round the corner where the our children could get involved in all sorts of play and learning, offered us that much needed respite. Giving us a much needed 5 minutes to have a coffee and to get our heads back in order.

After the withdrawal of central/government funding, the centre now wholly funds itself through donations, grants and a busy fundraising programme. The centre and staff have offered our families much needed support at times, so once again we have decided to try and help repay some of that.
