I am a Ukrainian who came to the UK after the full-scale Russian invasion. Since then, I’ve been trying not only to rebuild my life from scratch, far from home, but also to support Ukraine in every way I can.

On 27th April, I will be running the Manchester Marathon to raise funds for the Ukrainian volunteer medical battalion Hospitallers, who have been providing trauma care and evacuating wounded Ukrainian soldiers from the war zone.

I’m doing this in loving memory of my uncle, Sergii, who joined the Ukrainian army at the start of the Russian invasion in March 2022 and was killed in August 2024. He was a kind and caring person who devoted his life to protecting the people he loved.

Ukraine is losing fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, uncles and aunties every day in this brutal and unjust war. I hope that with your donations, we can save lives and bring a little light and hope to some families in these darkest of times.
