Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.

Story

Paula Heister died on April 26th 2025, aged 40, after a brave two-month battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

One year later, on April 26th 2026, Paula's husband, Chris, is running the London Marathon to raise money for Brain Tumour Research (https://braintumourresearch.org/): the only UK-based charity devoted exclusively to UK research into brain tumours, supporting work at two universities to which Paula had been affiliated as a clinician and scientist (Imperial College London and Queen Mary University of London).

Paula lived an incredibly full life, and touched the lives of a tremendous number of people. Paula's family believe that her wide network of friends, relatives, and colleagues can easily raise a significant amount of money in her memory, and help in the fight against some of the most lethal cancers.

Chris, meanwhile, is not a marathon runner (or not yet, anyway...). Please give whatever you can to motivate him through the weeks of training ahead, and the big day itself.
