My fundraiser for Lincolnshire Rural Support Network

Marathon for Alec · 5 April 2025
Last year, our brother/son Alec very unexpectedly took his own life.
As a keen runner, after Alec died a few people suggested I run a marathon in his memory. Although I liked this idea, none of the existing races appealed to me as those cities meant nothing to Alec. He'd always loved Lincolnshire, where we grew up and where he continued to farm and play for the local hockey team. Therefore, I decided to run a marathon around Louth, thinking I might be able to persuade a couple of others to join me.
Mum, Dad and Anna very quickly supported the idea, and Mum suggested we also have a relay option, for those who wanted to run a shorter distance. As we told family and friends this idea, it grew into a much bigger event. We now have around 30 people running a marathon and 70 running the relay event, with many more of Alec's friends and family offering their much needed support on the day! Additionally, Auntie Louise wanted to participate in some way, so will be walking a marathon in the Peak District the following weekend.
Please support all of our runners, and honour Alec's memory, by donating to this fundraiser. We have chosen to raise money for Lincolnshire Rural Support Network (LRSN), who have supported many of Alec's friends and colleagues following his death.
'Lincolnshire Rural Support Network is a lifeline for Lincolnshire's farming and rural folk, getting you back on track. We are a volunteer-led organisation providing pastoral and practical support during periods of anxiety, stress, and problems with your business or family life.'
