In 2022 we lost my beloved brother Glyn to Bowel Cancer aged only 42.
Glyn's diagnosis came out of the blue and he suffered a short and very difficult battle against this awful disease. The speed and aggressive nature of his cancer was a shock to us all but Glyn faced it with a bravery and love that inspired all of us who supported him.
Glyn was a keen and passionate sportsman and loved taking part in marathon and ultra-marathon challenges. He would always try and rope me into his crazy adventures but more often than not I was able to find a convenient excuse to avoid whatever gruelling punishment was in store! He would have a good laugh knowing I have signed up to run a marathon now!
One of his favourite achievements was running the London Marathon. He did brilliantly and we had a wonderful day going down to support him in the sunshine. We always said one day we would try and run it together but sadly that dream will remain unfulfilled.
That is why I have signed up to run the 2024 London Marathon in memory of Glyn to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK and help support their fight against bowel cancer.
So please give generously if you can and help us continue the fight against this terrible illness that took my brother and best friend from us too early.
Bowel Cancer UK fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.
We’re here to stop people dying of bowel cancer.
