Story
We ran the Manchester marathon on Sunday in memory of our best mate Matt, who unfortunately lost his life because of suicide. We are raising money for Papyrus, a suicide prevention charity for young people. Thank you everyone who has donated and supported us!!

We are running the Manchester Marathon in memory of our best friend, Matt Young, with this marathon taking place the week before his 21st birthday. For those who don’t know Matt, tragically, in September 2020, after returning to Sixth Form following the Covid Lockdown, Matt died by suicide. However if Matt had been able to access the right support, he might have even been running this marathon with us. As many people know Matt loved walking, so much so every time he came to my house he wanted to go on a big walk with the dog, and in fact, probably walked my dog, Millie, more than I did! And with Matts long stride and quick pace, every walk was basically a run anyway to keep up with him; hence it feels like we’ve been training for a marathon since we first met Matt in year 7!
Any donation made would be greatly appreciated and would allow this amazing charity to reach and help more and more young people that are in need of support. Aside from donations, please also speak up about mental health, encourage young people to talk about their mental health, and reach out for support if needed.
PAPYRUS is the national Charity for the Prevention of Young Suicide.
Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK, every year over 1800 young people took their own lives. PAPYRUS provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINE247.
Every £5 raised can contribute towards a life-saving contact to HOPELINE247. Your donations really are lifesaving, THANK YOU.
