I am taking on Stride the Clyde covering 106 miles this June - the length of the River Clyde - to support families who have a child in hospital.

My daughter Robyn was born with a rare condition called CDH and had to spend time in the NICU in Glasgow for specialist care. Within hours of her being born, we were given a room at Crossbasket House, no questions asked, and it was ours for as long as we needed it.

It really became a home away from home for us and meant we were only a 5 minute walk away from Robyn at all times. Having access to kitchen facilities meant we could still have proper meals without spending a fortune on hospital food, and every single member of staff was so kind and welcoming. No matter what kind of day we’d had, there was always a friendly face there to greet us.

Crossbasket House didn’t just help ease the financial pressure, it helped take away some of the mental and physical stress too, so we could focus fully on getting our baby better.

Crossbasket House provides family accommodation free of charge to assist families in a time of need while their child is being treated at the Royal Hospital for Children.
