Story
Hi, I’m Marc, and on 7 June 2025, I’ll be taking on the Lake District Challenge – a brutal 100km endurance event – to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Trust.
This isn’t just about running. It’s about fighting.
Why I’m Doing This
Cancer has touched my life in ways I wish it hadn’t. I’ve lost loved ones who fought with everything they had but didn’t get to win their battle. Others I know are still fighting, holding onto hope. And some, thankfully, have made it through and are in remission. But the fight doesn’t end there.
I’m taking on this challenge for them, and for the countless others who will face this disease in the future. I want to do my part – to push my body, endure the pain, and raise funds that will provide real, tangible support to those who need it most.
The Challenge
The Lake District Challenge is no walk in the park. It’s 100km of relentless hills, unforgiving terrain, and grueling climbs, with over 2,500m of elevation gain – the equivalent of climbing Ben Nevis twice. It will take sheer determination, mental resilience, and a lot of grit to get through. To put that in perspective, I’ve never even run a marathon before… and now I’m attempting more than two and a half marathons in one go.
But that struggle is nothing compared to what people with cancer go through every single day.
How You Can Help
I need your support. Every pound donated goes directly to Macmillan Cancer Trust, funding vital services for people affected by cancer, from medical care to emotional support and financial guidance.
Here’s how you can help:
✅ Donate: Any amount, big or small, makes a difference.
✅ Share: Spread the word – the more people who see this, the more we can raise.
✅ Support: A message of encouragement goes a long way when training gets tough.
Together, We Can Make a Difference
This challenge is for those we’ve lost, those still fighting, and those yet to be affected. Cancer doesn’t wait, and neither can we.
If you can, please donate. Let’s turn this effort into something that truly matters.
Thank you for your support. Let’s do this!
Marc
