In the year 2026-27, the Mayor of Felixstowe Charity Fund is working with Dora Brown, Pitstop and Brave Futures. Can't attend our events but wish to support? You can do so here!

Story

This year, an incredible group of people are coming together to take on a challenge none of us will ever forget, a 13,000ft tandem skydive at Beccles Airfield to raise money for the Mayor of Felixstowe's chosen Charities.

Our team is made up of a brilliant mix of people from across our community:

volunteers from the Mayor’s Charities, local business sponsors, and my own friends and family who have stepped forward to support the cause. It’s a true Felixstowe effort, united by a shared commitment to helping others.

Why we’re doing it

Every penny raised will support three outstanding local charities:

Pitstop

A dedicated group of volunteers who are a lifeline for many families, providing clothing, toys, food and so much more to those who need it most.

Dora Brown

Their volunteers go directly into people’s homes to help families restore dignity, safety and hope when life has become overwhelming.

Brave Futures

A specialist organisation supporting children, young people and families who have been victims of sexual abuse, helping them rebuild confidence, trust and a sense of safety.

These charities support some of the most vulnerable people in our community. Their work is vital, and this skydive is one of the ways we can help them continue it.

About the challenge

After a short safety briefing, we’ll board the aircraft at Beccles for a 15‑minute climb to around 13,000ft, roughly two miles above Suffolk.

Then comes the moment of truth.

Strapped to a highly experienced British Skydiving‑qualified instructor, each of us will step out into the sky for:

- Up to 40 seconds of freefall

- Speeds of around 120 mph

- A breathtaking descent from 13,000ft to 5,000ft

- A 6‑minute parachute flight with stunning views across Suffolk and the coastline

- A safe, instructor‑guided landing

For many of us, this is well outside our comfort zone — but if the people our charities support can face their challenges with courage, then we can certainly face ours.

Your support will help us make a real difference to people right here in Felixstowe.

Thank you for standing with us — and wish us luck when we jump from 13,000ft at 120 mph.
