1 day 205 mile bike ride from east to west coast, starting at sunrise, ending at sunset · 9 June 2023

St Giles Hospice provides specialist palliative and end of life care, free of charge, for people living with terminal illnesses, as well as providing support for their families and carers.

Story

On June 9th, 6 people - Roy Aston, Howard Chambers, Mike Aston-Mead, Ian Aston, Mark Ritson and myself, Marc Kirsten - will be embarking on an epic, 1 day, 205 mile “Race The Sun” bike ride. Starting on the east coast in Southend-on-Sea, Essex at sunrise, we will attempt to arrive on the west coast in Burnham-on-Sea,Somerset before sunset.

St. Giles Hospice, based in both Whittington, near Lichfield, and Sutton Coldfield, provides a range of care and support for people with life-limiting conditions.

Only one third of its running costs are provided by the NHS. For the rest, the hospice is reliant upon the generosity of the local and wider community.

£28 could pay for 1 hour of one-to-one nursing care for a patient.

£40 could pay for 1 hour of our Advice and Referrals team.

£202 could pay for visits to a patient in their own home by our community nurses.

£676 could pay for 24 hours of hospice care for a patient at the end of their life.

Please help us to help St. Giles Hospice.
