Marc's fundraiser for Employ-Ability

Marc Lambert is raising money for Employ-Ability

The Big Half 2025 · 7 September 2025 ·

Employ-Ability is a specialist employment support charity working with people experiencing mental ill health. Our purpose is to support people with mental ill health to secure and retain employment. We promote employment as it is both a normal aspiration and because it is a proven method of supporting recovery.

Story

At Employ-Ability we help people with mental health and disability to bounce back…

I’m part of the Employ-Ability running team that are going to run and bounce along the roads of London and do the Big Half Marathon on Sept 7th 2025.

I’ve been training hard over the past few weeks and although I’ve been a runner for many years, I haven’t run more than 10Km (6.2mls) for over a decade. And I haven’t felt the same pain in my legs that I experienced recently after running 12.5miles for many years too! It’s a small price to pay though to raise some much needed funds to support our work at Employ-Ability.

Since Oct 2023, our Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Primary Care Employment Service at Employ-Ability has supported several hundred individuals in their goal to find paid employment, and to remain in work through discussions with employers around reasonable adjustments. We’ve written up new CVs, completed application forms, visited employers and advocated for our clients to secure paid jobs. Of course, it doesn’t work all the time, but we do our best to help and support and many of our client’s secure paid PT or FT work, which is transformational for their self-esteem and mental health. Other members of our Employment Specialist team have supported individuals with more Serious Mental Health conditions for over decade with many significant outcomes over the years.

We have supported individuals that have mental health conditions and disability, with some having also been previously homeless, left prison or struggled with drugs and alcohol, and many other conditions and family / social matters (chronic pain, epilepsy conditions, accidental injuries, Covid, as well as bereavement, divorce / separation, family breakdowns etc.) during their lives. Our teams of Employment Specialist’s across West and South Essex, and West Suffolk have delivered these Employment services services, with partner teams at Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust delivering the same services across Mid and North Essex.

It would be fantastic if you could please help inflate our fundraising targets for the Big Half Marathon in Sept 25, so that we can continue to make a difference to those with mental health and disability – and them find paid employment.
