Mt Everest- Basecamp and beyond · 8 November 2025

We challenge how society handles men’s mental health. We fund free therapy, events, and UK-first research. We don’t tell men to talk, we listen, act, and provide real support that works. No fluff. No guesswork. Just honest, proven help

Story

I woke one morning with the crazy idea of climbing Mt Everest " like you do"

So on the 8th November 2025 I fly to Kathmandu for a 15 day hike to Mt Everest Base camp. Then the following day climb to Kala Patthar at nearly 6000 ft above sea level. As close to the Everest summit as none professional dare attempt!

But why am I doing this?

For many years, I had suffered with my own demons. It's what we now call mental health issues.

IM A MAN, MEN DONT ADMIT THIS, MEN DONT CRY!

So this is a very first for me today, and you're first to hear it.

I still feel the need to push myself and ask questions why am I here most days ?

I, as many men, found it difficult to open up and speak. My voice is loud, and I have plenty to say if you know me well enough. But when it came to asking friends, family, and loved ones for help, or an ear to listen to me, I simply couldn't find my voice at all. And I let the demons fester and destroy me inside for many years m.

But one day, I asked for help, and im lucky enough to see my children grow up and have caring and amazing people around me which i would have lost.

Did you know ?

In England and Wales, men die by suicide at a rate 3 times more often than women. Nearly 12 men lose their lives to suicide every day, or approximately 4,200 suicides each year.

Suicide is the single largest cause of death for men under the age of 50.

Men are much less likely to get help for their mental health.

MANUP is a charity that can help change the stigma of mens mental health and encourage all men to reach out and be brave talk to someone and say, " I need some help."

So, by completing this massive challenge, hopefully, I can raise awareness and funds to encourage one of these men to stop for a second and ask for help or even save a life.

With your donation! We can do this together and make a difference 🙏

I am grateful for any donations and, of course, youre support.
