Walking with the Duke of Monmouth for Hospiscare

A charity walk from Lyme Regis to Bristol and then to Bridgwater in full reenactment kit
My dad passed away from prostate cancer after a lifetime of service in the navy, as a dad and a grandad. As the struggle grew in the last few days, Hospice Care were there with mum every step of the way and could not have done more!
Raising money will allow this wonderful charity to help other families in the darkest of times.
Cancer is a horrible disease and we WILL beat it!
To help raise funds, I will be following in the footsteps of my hero, the Duke of Monmouth, son of Charles II. He led a rebellion against his uncle, King James II. He landed at Lyme Regis in Lyme and marched through: Bridport, Axminster, Taunton, Bridgwater, up to Bristol and then finally back to Bridgwater where he was finally defeated.
I will be tracing his path in early July in full reenactment kit, dressed as one of his rebels. Weapons, woollen clothes and very uncomfortable shoes! It will be a tough week - but the cause is totally worth it!
It being the 340th anniversary of the Monmouth Rebellion makes it even more apt!
In one week in July I will be completing the following marches in full kit:
Lyme Regis to Bridport and back again - 19 miles
Lyme to Axminster - 5.5 miles
Axminster to Taunton - 23 miles
Taunton to Bridgwater - 12 miles
Bridgwater to Glastonbury - 15 miles
Glastonbury to Wells - 6.2 miles
Wells to Keynsham - 18 miles
This will be approximately 100 miles...again in full 17th century reenactment kit!
