The construction industry has some of the highest rates of poor mental health and suicide of any UK Industry. This extends across all sectors of the industry from site operative through to construction professionals. I am running Marcothon in support of Architect Benevolent Society who provide mental health training, support and mentoring to address this issue.

Marcothon is an annual challenge to run 5 kilometers every day in December. It was conceived by Glasgow ultra runner Debbie and Marco Consani, trying to keep running motivation going through the darkest, coldest and most stressful month of the year. This year I am aiming to complete my third Marcothon giving a bit of calm running headspace every day.

This year, the Architects Benevolent Society have provide mental health support to a number of friends and colleagues in the industry and it seems fitting to use this December as way of raising awareness and donations to support others.
