Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In 2026, I have set myself an ambitious challenge: to complete a series of long-distance running events across the year. I will begin with the North Downs Ultra (50km) on 22nd February, followed by the Brighton Marathon, the Winchester Ultra 50km, and the Amsterdam Marathon—with further events to be announced in due course.

Those who know me well will appreciate that I am not a natural runner—“enthusiastic participant” is perhaps a more accurate description. Pace has never been my defining quality. Yet running has become something far more meaningful than speed or finishing times. It has given me structure, strengthened my physical and mental wellbeing, and created invaluable moments shared with family, friends, and the inspiring community of people you meet along the way. It has become a vehicle for connection and growth.

This challenge, however, is not solely about personal development. I am undertaking these events in support of an extraordinary charity: The Dan Eley Foundation.

I would strongly encourage you to take a few moments to read Dan’s story and learn how the foundation came to be. It is a story that embodies resilience, courage, and hope:

I first met Dan many years ago on a football pitch. His effortless skill and warm, easy manner were apparent from the outset. He would appear for a run of games, then disappear for weeks at a time—only to return with stories of his latest adventure travelling the world. What I did not fully appreciate then was the depth of his character.

When I later learned of his life-changing accident, I felt compelled to reach out—if only to offer a familiar face during what must have been an unimaginably difficult period. It was through that time that I truly came to know Dan: kind, honest, determined, and remarkably selfless. In the face of profound adversity, he chose not retreat, but purpose—dedicating himself to supporting others when it would have been entirely understandable to focus solely on himself. He is, without exaggeration, a genuine inspiration.

Your support—whether through a donation or simply by taking the time to read Dan’s story—means a great deal. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps further the work of an exceptional cause. And if donating is not possible, I would wholeheartedly encourage you to learn more about the foundation. I can say with complete honesty that I have never met anyone quite like Dan.

Thank you for your encouragement and support.
