Story
On the 11th of May I will be running the Leeds Half Marathon. I am dedicating my first half marathon race to my two beautiful aunties, Auntie Dev and Auntie Mimi, who we lost in 2015 and 2017 and to my incredibly strong Mammar who is currently battling cancer. Losing both of my aunties to breast cancer when I was age 11 and 12, shaped my understanding of how devastating this illness is—not just for those diagnosed, but for their loved ones too.
I am choosing to raise money for Sunflowers Liverpool, a local charity that provides essential support to individuals and families affected by cancer or other life-changing illnesses in the Merseyside region. Their unique support services include counselling, exercise & yoga classes, massage & reiki, support groups & more. These services aim to improve the mental and physical wellbeing by connecting with others with similar experiences.
Running reminds me to be grateful for the ability to move, push my limits and embrace the strength of my body- something that not everyone is fortunate to have. By completing my half marathon, I hope to encourage others to get moving too.
Any donations will make a real difference in ensuring that no one has to go through cancer alone ❤️🌻
