Story

Help Make Margot’s Home Safe and Accessible

Margot is a bright and courageous 5-year-old from Northampton. In May 2021, when she was just 20 months old, her life changed forever. She suffered a brain haemorrhage caused by a ruptured arteriovenous malformation (AVM)—a rare condition that led to a stroke and a significant acquired brain injury.

Since then, Margot has faced many challenges with incredible bravery. Her injury has affected her mobility, communication, and development. She works hard every day in therapy, and thanks to previous fundraising support, she’s made amazing progress. But her condition, particularly worsening dystonia, has made it increasingly difficult for her to move around safely—especially at home.

Margot can no longer climb stairs unaided and is now too heavy for us to carry. To give her the independence and safety she deserves, we need to create a ground floor bedroom and accessible kitchen. While we’ve received some support through a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG)—which funded an adapted bathroom in 2023—it doesn’t cover all the costs of the essential work. We need to extend our home and relocate the kitchen to make this possible.

A ground floor bedroom will give Margot:

Safe, step-free access around the house

Independence to use her wheelchair on difficult days

Freedom to move without fear of falling

Dignity in her daily routine

Despite everything, Margot continues to smile, learn, and inspire everyone who knows her.

💛 Please help us reach our fundraising goal. Every donation, share, and kind word means the world. Thank you for supporting Margot’s journey.
