Story
This September we are lacing up our walking boots and spending 7 days walking the West Highland Way in aid of the amputee charity Finding Your Feet!
Finding Your Feet support families affected by amputation or limb absence from such conditions as diabetes and sepsis . Through a range of sporting initiatives and social inclusion projects they strive to positively affect both the physical and mental wellbeing of amputees.
We’ve personally seen and met many people who have lost limbs due to diabetes and it’s a horrible fact that without physical and mental health support 30% of amputees don’t survive for a year after surgery.
FYF is now the country’s leading amputee charity. In addition to supporting the amputee community, they also address issues facing the wider population, such as sepsis, diabetes, mental health, body dysmorphia and organ donation. As most of you know that last issue is something that has touched our lives very personally and if she was still with us today our Tiny Dancer would be walking with us or be our loudest supporter.
We are hoping to raise as much as we can for the charity. I know times are hard and money is a struggle for everyone. For this reason we are only raising money for the charity itself and will be self funding our trip.
If you have anything to spare, no matter how little, we would be very thankful for your support !
