In many low-income countries and conflict-affected regions, burn injuries are a forgotten public health challenge. Patients often face delayed, inadequate, or inappropriate treatment. This leads to unnecessary suffering, disfigurement, lifelong disability, or even death. As a nurse, researcher and educator, I’ve seen how critical it is to have access to timely and skilled care.

That’s why I’m proud to support Interburns, a global charity transforming burn care in some of the world’s most challenging settings. Interburns has developed a comprehensive, integrated approach to improving the quality of burn care. From community-based first aid and prevention programmes to advanced clinical and quality improvement training for healthcare professionals, Interburns works to ensure that all burn patients have access to good care, despite limited resources.

I’ve had the privilege of supporting a nursing faculty involved in delivering Interburns’ training courses, and I’ve seen the impact this work has on both healthcare workers and the patients they serve.

The Rasselbock Run on October 5th 2025 is a unique 6-hour endurance challenge through Sherwood Pines Forest in Nottinghamshire. This isn’t your typical race—there’s no set distance.
