This March, I’ll be running and walking 100km in support of Alder Hey Charity, inspired by someone very dear to our family.

I’m dedicating this challenge to my Gran in Law, Margaret, who celebrates her 90th birthday in April 2026. Margaret began her nursing career at Alder Hey, and her connection to the hospital has continued across generations. Many of her great grandchildren — including my daughter, Fliss — have been cared for by the incredible teams at Alder Hey.

We are endlessly grateful for the support, expertise, and kindness we’ve received over the years. So much of the specialist equipment and family support services that helped Fliss have been made possible thanks to Alder Hey Charity.

By taking on this 100km challenge, I’m hoping to give something back to the place that has given our family so much.
